Practice

After serving as a Supreme Court Justice from 1994 to 2002, Shinichi Kawai is currently Of Counsel at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune. A longstanding and prominent member of the Osaka Bar Association, prior to serving on the Supreme Court Mr. Kawai's practice included extensive work with multiple financial institutions in Osaka. Mr. Kawai acted as a consultant counsel to such financial institutions, advising on all aspects of their business, with a focus on financial-related litigation. Mr. Kawai additionally served as an Assistant Judge from 1957 to 1962, and was a member of the Legislative Council of the Ministry of Justice from 1987 to 1991, and the National Bar Examination Committee from 1992 to 1994. Mr. Kawai's current focus at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune includes advising on litigation matters.
