A partner of our firm, Akira Moriwaki, held a seminar on March 18, 2010 entitled the "Enactment of the Tort Law of the People’s Republic of China and trends of civil law in China" at the IBL Chinese Lawyers Club. The seminar provided an overview of the features of the Tort Law (scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2010), and covered topics ranging from the punitive compensation system regarding product liability to the effect of enhanced responsibility for soil contaminators on mergers and acquisitions.
