Our partner, Atsutoshi Maeda, and our Senior Foreign Counsel, James M. Minamoto, jointly addressed a visiting delegation of Australian commercial real estate developers, agents and investors, at the Roppongi Hills Club on September 16, 2009. Many of the delegation members had no prior experience with Japanese real estate transactions, and Mr. Maeda and Mr. Minamoto thus presented a straightforward and concise primer, entitled, “Japanese Commercial Real Estate - Basics for the First Time Investor.” Their talk focused on elements of Japanese transactions that might differ from those in Australia, and also included discussion of a typical TMK investment structure used in Japan.
